November 4th, 2009 Meeting Minutes

Tom Mitchell, President, opened the meeting, with 31 in attendance, especially welcoming visitors and introducing the officers. Tom, for the benefit of the visitors, explained the purpose and functions of the Club. Minutes from the last meeting were read by Ken Jordan, Secretary. Minutes were approved as read. In the absence of Ken Loudermilk, Treasurer, Ken Jordan reported the Club’s account balance to be $565.79. The Treasurer’s complete report is attached and was approved as read.

Recent Dives:

• Madeline Helbock reported on her “weekly” cave dive with John Koehler. This time to Peacock Springs. She reported the water as “cold” – 70!.

• Holiday Party – 6pm Dec 11 2009 at Tom & Judy Mitchell’s house – must be a paid member to attend!
• Annual Picnic – Feb ’10 day TBD – Location: Alexander Springs (tentative)

Other Business:

• Tom Mitchell reminded members of the need to form the 2010 Nominating Committee and asked for volunteers. The silence was noticeable

Tom introduced our guest speaker Dr Albert Bazo, a dive medicine specialist from Ocala. Dr Bazo then gave a informative talk followed by Q&A.

The next meeting will take place on December 2nd, 2009.

The guest speaker for this meeting will be Craig Clark from the Aquatic Center of Ocala. Our guest speaker for the January meeting will be Lt Caruthers, Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Dive and Rescue Team.
