British historian, Fluke Kelso (Daniel Craig), is about to leave contemporary Moscow after his lectures about the Stalin era.  He is contacted by a former Soviet officer who convinces him that Stalin had a personal notebook detailing a secret Stalin legacy that could change Soviet history.  Finding the notebook becomes Kelso's personal 'Holy Grail'.
