Recreation News – Nov. 11, 2003
Bocce Ball is going very well at both venues and we are
planning a big playoff with the top two teams from each location in a one game
elimination. This major event will occur at the Chatham courts on Thursday December 11, 2003 starting at 3:00PM. Everyone
is welcome to come watch this playoff and cheer their favorites. We have
reserved the covered picnic area and expect many participants and fans to bring
their own beverages, snacks and folding chairs.
Also on December 8, I hope
to contract with Mulberry to have there Bocce courts for our Winter
League, which if the demand materializes may involve three venues for that
session. We will need at least on more volunteer to make this happen.
Anyone interested, please call Ed at 750-0052.
In regards to Pickleball,
Alison Bruce of Mulberry reports that Chatham already has one group and she is relunctant
to start another at this time.
Willie Larm at 750-5270 runs the
current group and welcomes any others from Chatham that wish to play on Thursday's from 1-3PM at Mulberry. Newcomers and experienced players are
all invited, wear tennis shoes. They currently only occupy four courts, but I
expect our numbers could easily require expansion and that is what the
Recreation Director wants to see, before giving us additional time. Once again
if we wished to get something going through the Chatham Social Club (Mr. Larm is not a member at this time), we will need
volunteer(s) to do the legwork.
Our leagues will be wrapping
up very soon and we plan to publish final results on the Website and/or Postal
Bulletin Board as they finish.
